Ball valve lockouts in safety is to physically immobilize a quarter-turn valve handle in the "off" or "on" position. This prevents accidental or unauthorized operation during maintenance or repair work, protecting workers from the release of hazardous energy like steam, chemicals, gas, or pressurized fluids.
